It’s HERE! After years of shooting the original 24GPC from Mad Dog Weapon Systems, we approached Mark Kexel, creator of the 24GPC cartridge. We spoke about how much we use the cartridge, but felt it wasn’t being used and appreciated by predator hunters. Our suggestion was to collaborate on the future of the cartridge, with a rebranding of the name to the .24 Varminter. He liked the idea and we ran with it. The transition took a while, with new barrels marked properly and dies from Hornady with the “24 Varminter” name. We were very pleased to announce the re-introduction of the new .24 Varminter yesterday, February 4, 2023. Please watch the original release video, then follow it up with a look at the video that discusses the technical side and ballistic testing with numerous projectile weights. These are NOT hot loads, nor are they showing any signs of pressure on the brass, or primer. Here are the videos, along with the velocity tables that were recently updated.
This video includes Cache Carlson and myself discussing the more technical side of the .24 Varminter cartridge, including some history, the parent cartridge and velocities using numerous varmint style projectiles:
